Frequently Asked Questions
How does VCG earn its fee?
VCG earns its fees based on your success. VCG invoices your company a percentage of funds that your company recovers AFTER the recovery funds are paid. With VCG you have the money recovered and guaranteed success before you receive an invoice. We like to say that we fund our fee.
VCG is also available for extended procedures and consulting on either a fixed fee or hourly basis.
Other service providers require a monthly subscription or upfront fee. You can have thousands of dollars out of pocket before you recover a single dollar.
How far back can VCG Recover Deductions?
For Walmart, vendors can look back 24 months for recovery. There is a sense of urgency to start recovering your deductions. Once the 24-month clock has expired, your company has lost its ability to claim and collect funds.
Other retailers have much shorter timeframe to claim recovery. Again, the quicker you begin a recovery process, the more money you can recover.
Does VCG help recover claims from retailers other than Walmart?
Yes, VCG has experience recovering deductions from other retailers such as Target, Walgreens, Kroger, and Dollar General.
Retailers have similar deduction processes accompanied by different policies and nomenclature, but there are 2 key differences. Other retailers’ deductions are more heavily weighted to Policy and Procedure Penalties and timeframes for recovery are much shorter.
Can VCG recover compliance penalties like OTIF or SQEP at Walmart?
Compliance penalties are difficult to recover, but not impossible. Retailers use their own data, and they are the prosecutor, judge and jury. Recoveries require clear, concrete, concise data and unambiguous, unquestionable errors.
VCG has a 3 phased approach to compliance penalties.
- In-depth data gathering and analysis to clearly understand root causes of non-compliance and to identify opportunities for recovery.
- Train client team members on available data, dashboards and reports.
- Work with the client to develop process improvement strategies.
Does VCG work with small vendors?
Yes, VCG can be a great help for small vendors. In addition to being your deduction expert, your company can engage VCG to perform the entire deduction recovery. This improves profitability and cash flow. The process funds itself because you get paid before VCG gets paid.
What are the benefits from working with VCG for a large CPG vendor?
Large vendors with dedicated deduction recovery teams can also benefit from working with VCG. Walmart engages 3rd party post-audit firms to comb through 24 months of invoicing activity for missed deductions. Your company can do the same thing to Walmart. VCG can audit and review up to 24 months of activity for missed recovery opportunities. We can also help vendors catch up on backlogged deduction, and VCG is on call for questions and consultation.
